The reason I decided against those was because it defeated one reason for buying the ipad2 and not a laptop or notebook, and that was the size and portability. ‘I was looking for a good cover, and read many reviews. Though this is the only one I bought (and therefore can’t objectively compare to anything other than Apple’s SmartCover), I am extremely satisfied. Very high quality, fit and finish. Magnets work flawlessly to activate the auto on/off functions. Cover folds back all the way for reading, and the rear tab holds the cover well for the tilted orientation (low-angle or upright landscape). All the buttons are accessible. Adds what I consider minimal thickness relative to the quality and robustness. The Smartcover doesn’t protect anything but the screen, and doesn’t fold all the way around for “book” mode…some have said I should roll it into its triangle form as a handle, but that’s not comfortable, and I can’t switch hands without rotating the iPad. The Bear works great…as an executive, it fits a more professional look as well, rather than the eye-candy of some others. No regrets!!! This “completes” my iPad!’
